ITC Resolves Patent Dispute Between Shoals and Voltage

  • July 01, 2026
The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) issued a final ruling in the voltage infringement case involving main bus cable assemblies for solar projects between Shoals Technologies Group and the defendant.

Lisa R. Barton, Secretary of the ITC, signed this letter, which confirms that Voltage has indeed infringed on Shoals' patents and violated Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 by importing infringing LYNX mainframe bus products into the United States. The ITC has issued a limited exclusion order against Voltage's infringing products.

"We are proud to defend U.S. intellectual property and the innovators who design, invent, and manufacture in America," said Brandon Moss, CEO of Shoals. "Protecting intellectual property is crucial to securing America's energy future, and we appreciate the ITC's decision in support of this. Shoals will continue to advocate for American innovation and manufacturing by investing domestically, safeguarding its intellectual property, and helping build a resilient U.S. energy supply chain.". ”

Voltage's next-generation bus solution, LYNX PLUS, has been found not to infringe on Shoals' patents. The company will continue promoting the redesigned solution in the U.S. market. Voltage plans to open a new eBOS manufacturing facility in North Carolina to produce more domestically made products.

Voltage Energy independently developed its main busbar solution and will continue to innovate. The solar industry relies on open and fair competition, rather than eliminating competitors through litigation and unfair business practices," said Li Wang, CEO of Voltage Energy.
